'Preity' Tough In Business

Preity Tough In Business
She is a woman with two different hats- one moment the glamorous diva of the silver screen in 'Salaam Namaste', 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' and 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' and the other moment the 'tough' and 'Hard as Nails' businesswomen guiding soaring fortunes of the Mohali cricket team in the Indian Premier League.

In both her roles, be it on the big screen or on the cricketing field, Preity Zinta seems to have excelled herself.

After garnering critical acclaim for her realistic act in Rituparno Ghosh's 'The Last Lear' which had her sharing screen space with none other than Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan , Preity is back to playing the role of the Businesswomen even as her next venture 'Heroes', a multistarrer where she features opposite Bollywood hunk Salman Khan, hits theatres tomorrow.

Playing the boss of a team of cricketers would seem to be an easy job compared to acting, but Preity finds it really hard.

'Just because one is the Boss of the team does not mean things are easy. In fact, it is the other way round,'Preity said as she headed to Bangkok along with her entire Mohali team to address a media conference.

'As a boss, I have to not only remain in constant touch with my team, but also pep them up time and again so that they do their best on the field.

Besides that, I am the one who looks into all the details about meetings, conferences, chalking out agendas and also making it a point to be on the field. I take care of all the minute details. In that sense, it is hard work--sheer hard work,'Preity said in a statement to the press before leaving for Bangkok.

As the co-owner of the cricket team, along with close friend Ness Wadia, Preity believes in following a 'hands on' approach rather than remaining in the background.

'I want to be the driving force behind my team,' the actor said.

Also, as the boss of the Mohali cricket team, Preity wants to come across as different from her persona on the silver screen.

This is perhaps why, Preity, the boss, prefers the no makeup look when on the field.

'I don't want to come across like a heroine in the cricket ground,'she says.

Watching her lead the team with a single minded dedication, one cannot but conclude that Preity Zinta the Businesswomen and brand is stronger than Preity the heroine! Infact, recently a foreign publication named her as the most influential businesswoman who owned an entire IPL team.

Preity's Bangkok tour with her Mohali team comes even as her 'sardarni' look coming across in the promos of 'Heroes' has created a lot of buzz around the film.

In 'Heroes', she plays Salman Khan's war widow - the sole breadearner of the family who single-handedly strives to bring up her son. For playing the role, Preity made a dedicated choice to go back to acting school and learn how to portray the character of a Punjabi woman- mastering the dialect and body language.

On the film front, Preity is also looking forward to her role in Deepa Mehta's 'Heaven on Earth' and Jahnu Barua's 'Har Pal'.
