Breaking taboos and creating a new history, a special mosque has been erected in this district town where only women can offer prayers.
More than 100 women offered 'Namaz' for the first time at the mosque in Subhash Nagar area Morena, MP, on the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr yesterday. Imam Shabina Bano led the Namaz.
Muslim women have been prohibited to offer namaz in mosques. But the daunting task to put an end to this age-old taboo was taken up by a retired teacher Noorbaqsh.
On special request, women police personnel were deployed outside the shrine during the Eid prayers, he said.
"Few so called leaders of the community banned women from offering prayers, hence I built this shrine to solemnise the noble cause," he added.
