60-yr-old launches music album

{image- www.boldsky.com}A 60-year-old businessman has launched his singing career with an album of Hindi songs titled 'Kyon Toone Dil Ko Toda'.

Raman Kapoor's debut album under T-Series was released here last evening by his friend since his school days, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath, who said, "This album launch establishes you are never too old. I have had the privilege of hearing Raman. He used to sing while driving all over the world." Mr Nath's statement about the age factor is corroborated by Kapoor's appearance who is tall, slim and in good health and was wearing a fedora hat, diamond ear studs and sported a white ponytail too.

Above all, his singing voice with its soft and husky quality belie his age as evident by his performance at the launch. Music Director Nikhil, who produced many chartbusters in Bollywood flick 'Tum Bin' and has composed three songs in the album, said, "I found the timbre of Raman's voice different, like that of Ghazal numero uno Jagjit Singh. I've also got a good report from T-series on the album. They say our song 'Dard Hota Hai' chal jayega. They are running 50 promos of the album everyday.

"I have worked with so many artistes, but found Raman unique. If I objected to something in an antra after the recording, he'd fly to Mumbai from Delhi the next day itself," said Nikhil, whose current projects include films 'Aisi Deewangi', 'Mere Humsafar' and a video film 'Gas Station'.

Talking to UNI, Raman said, "Had it not been for T-Series and Bhushan Kumar, this album would not have seen the light of the day. He agreed to do my album. Albeit, I have been singing for many years, I began working on my maiden album only one and a half years back.

"I didn't even believe in 'riyaaz' earlier, but now I have been doing it one hour everyday since the last one year. And I was surprised to discover that my voice can now reach higher scales.

'Riyaaz' has got the power. It also puts in peace. Now, I even take care of my voice. Pehle to kuch pata hi nahin tha. Now I do not consume even cold water, for instance." Speaking about the album, he said, "Today melody is missing in the market. That's why I thought to work on melodious songs rather than follow the current trend of techno beats." Raman has already started working on his next album, which he plans to finish within 3-4 months.

Involved in the business of selling carpets worldwide, Raman Kapoor was born in Cambelpur, now in Pakistan, and has lived abroad for 30 years in Europe. Apart from romantic ballads and sad songs, his debut album features a song 'Gori Teri Chaal, Gore Gore Gaal'. Just imagine a 60-year-old man singing that!
