Big B's Daughter as TV anchor
Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) Profit, India's pioneer business channel announced the launch of its brand new show ''NextGen'' that will mark the legendary Big B's daughter Shweta Nanda's debut on TV.
'NextGen' will be a weekly half hour programme on Profit in association with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and will be aired from today at 2030 hours on Profit.
The 12 part series will be in a free flowing interview format and feature 12 people below the age of 40 years representing varied fields such as art, literature, sports, films, fashion and business.
The show constitutes the philosophy of these young Indians -'what drives them in their respective professions as well as how far they want their ambitions to take them'.
Addressing the media here yesterday, Ms Shweta said,''Today's youth has a go-getter attitude and is confident, outspoken and ambitious. Talking to people my age is a bonus as I understand their pursuations, aspirations. It is an honour to work with an incredible team such as . The whole package appealed to me. The one person I would like to talk to is journalist Barkha Dutt.'' Poonam Badra, Chief Communication Head at LIC said, ''Shweta's mother-in-law is a great LIC agent based in Delhi. She is the late Raj Kapoor's daughter Ritu Nanda. Shweta is in a way connected to LIC. Our youth constitute of 40 per cent of our population. They are oozing with talent. The youth are our most valuable human resource.
This programme is our tribute to young achievers. They are our inspiration.'' Shivnath Thukral, Managing Editor of Profit said,'' The idea is to represent a generational shift across all professions that helps reinforce India's position on the global map. With Shweta Nanda anchoring the show, we can communicate the break from the old mindset that is giving away to unconventional, vibrant and innovative thought processes.''
