The 49-year-old singer already owns a large apartment in the building at swanky Central Park West, New York, and tried purchasing another block of the same tower, reports The Sun.
However, the managers of the complex are holding up the sale of the flat next door.
A spokeswoman said the singer was unavailable for comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, Madonna has dismissed reports that her final Warner Bros studio album will be called 'Licorice.'
