New Delhi, Apr 4: The Wills Lifestyle India fashion Week (WLIFW) will commence in the capital tomorrow with over 70 international buyers, from over 12 countries and 90 domestic buyers set to attend the event spanning April 5-9.
In comparison, over 40 key international buyers along with nearly 150 domestic buyers visited the Lakme fashion Week that was held at Mumbai from March 28 to Apr 2.
Two separate events are being held in Mumbai and Delhi due to the controversial split between FDCI and Lakme -- former sponsor of the fashion week.
FDCI Director General Rathi Vinay Jha, while announcing the names of the buyers, said, ''We are pleased to announce that both domestic and international buyer participation is higher this year than ever before. And this will promote Indian fashion in its entirety.'' He added, ''Our primary objective is to promote the business of fashion. We are presenting designers who are not only established, but have back-end production facilities to ensure consistency in quality and delivery schedules to carry business forward.'' With the tremendous increase in designer participation seen this year, FDCI has almost doubled the space devoted to the Business Centers, with over 100 stalls.
Among the domestic buyers participating in the extravaganza are, Alliance Merchandising, Ogaan, Carma, Ensemble, Shoppers Stop Ltd, Kala Niketan, etc.
International buyers include Bloomingdales (Europe), Maria Luisa (Paris), L'e claireur (Paris) and Selfridges, Harrods (London).
Besides, 70 other buyers from the US, UK, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Japan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Australia and other countries will also be attending the event.
