The State Arts and Culture department
Imphal, Sep 28 (UNI) The State Arts and Culture department has opened the new Manipur State Art Gallery here yesterday.
The gallery's construction works had started in 2004 in a large area with Rs 30 lakhs fund from the Centre.
Large numbers of art lovers visited the newly opened gallery today to see the array of paintings, drawings, sculptures displayed.
'Glamour' (Graphic) of Rajesh Naorem, 'Organs' (Sculpture) of P Premjit , 'Communal Harmony' (Sculpture in mixed media) of Jamngul Mark Gangte, 'Manipuri Dolls' (Acrylic painting) of Chandam Lalit Singh, Ras Leela-2 (Sculpture in Bronze) of W Robin Khaba, 'Pena Khongba' (Drawing in Ink medium) of H Satyabrata Singh all award winning art works were among the display.
Officials sources said with the opening of the new art gallery the artists of the state could find a platform to exhibit their works and display works on a permanent basis.
All the items were exhibited to the public since yesterday and will be opened to the public till October 5, officials said.
