Madhu-Milind Reunite

Almost five years ago, after she married the Italian Gian Maria, Madhu Sapre retired from the fashion world and settled into quiet domesticity life in Italy.
Yesterday, Madhu was back walking the ramp with Milind Soman, for apparel brand, GANT.
On her return to modelling
I said yes because it's a well-known brand and they are associated with water conservation. I have been getting plenty of offers for the last four years, but I thought the the cause was great and decided to support it. I dress very differently in Italy, and these are the kind of clothes I normally wear there.
On returning to the ramp
I am very nervous. I always used to be nervous earlier, too, when I walked the ramp. It's good to be nervous as it makes you perform better.
On walking the ramp with Milind
There was no awkwardness. I am very comfortable with Milind. We share a very good relationship. I am a professional and so is he. It will be like walking the ramp with another model. Milind is a friend and a colleague and we are on very good terms. It was never a conscious decision to stop walking the ramp together. He got busy with films and I continued walking the ramp.
On quitting modelling
I got married to GianCarlo and went to Italy. I was setting up a new home, making friends there, learning a new language and travelling. There was no time to do anything else. We stay in Riccione, on the North-eastern coast of Italy. I had been doing fashion shows for 14 years and wanted some time off.
Do you miss your friends?
I do. But I have been in touch with them even when I was in Italy. I don't let my friends go from my life. Friends are like family to me and I can't do without them.
Some of my close friends are Mehr Jessia, Noyonika Chatterjee, Sangeeta Chopra, Suchitra Pillai and Suneet Varma. Marriage is great. I miss modelling sometimes but I travel a lot with GianCarlo and we go on holidays and do skiing. I miss us girls hanging out together and I miss my career, though.
Plan to have kids?
Not yet.
What now?
I want to do films - lots of crossover films, with interesting roles, maybe even character roles. I want to model again, too. Now I can juggle my life in India and Italy and can find time to manage a career and family.
