Leaving Dog At Daycare: Things To Know

Dog daycare is very similar to the concept of daycare for babies. When you adopt a pet, it is almost like having a baby. The puppy has to be tended in every way just like a human baby. Now when a busy working couple has a dog, they have difficulty in taking care of it. That is why dog daycare have mushroomed everywhere.

Things like the age of the puppy, its breed and your work timings must be considered bedore decided whether your dog needs a day care. Here are certain points that should influence your decision to leave your dog at the daycare.

Age Of Puppy

If your puppy has not yet learned to feed on its own, then it is better to leave the little one in a daycare. Even if you leave food for the puppy, the little pet may bot be able to feed alone. This means, your puppy will be hungry for 8 to 9 hours when you will be away at work. That is enough to make your pet very seriously ill.

Dog Breed

All breeds of dogs do not need to be kept at a daycare. For example, a greyhound or German shepherd can stay safely at home even when you are away. But dog breeds like pug, boxer and Labradors get very lonely and sad when they are left alone. They need constant human companionship. That why is working couples should have a dog that can stay alone if required.

Naughty Dogs

Some dog breeds are very naughty and can wreck havoc in your house if you leave them alone. For example, boxer puppies are very excitable. They can chew up your remote control and tear up carpets at home. Even golden retriever puppies are very naughty. Grown golden retrievers are known to damage couches and furniture if they get excited.

Special Cases

One special situation may require you to leave your dog at the daycare. For example, if your dog is sick and you cannot manage to bunk work, then a daycare might be the safest place for your pet. You need to explain the schedule of medications to the daycare attendants when you are leaving an ailing dog there.
