Cats More Attached To Houses Than Masters?
Most often we hear that cats are not as loyal as dogs. It is very difficult to tell how much truth there is to this statement. Dogs are known to be the most loyal animals in the world but, only when you bring them up or train them. Cats on the other hand are never sighted as examples of loyalty. However, it is very common to have pet cats. In fact, cats are second most common domestic pets after dogs.
Some old myth says that cats are more attached to the house than their masters. It is easy for a cat to change masters, but when it comes to a house, cats are reluctant movers. Is there any truth in this? Let us find out..

Territorial Animals: Cats are basically territorial animals. They mark their territory by peeing all over. That is why, a house for cats is their personal kingdom. They are reluctant to leave it even when the masters are moving.
Sense Of Smell: Even pet cats have an acute sense of smell. They are affiliated to smell of their pee. And even if they are taken to some other place, they seek out that familiar smell. There have been many cases where cats return to their house even if they are chased away by the new masters.
Tiger's Cousins: Although cat breeds that are domesticated are relatively harmless, cats are actually the distant cousins of tigers. That is why, it is difficult to domesticate them totally. They always have an independent spirit of their own. Sometimes, a cat might also become ferocious if you try to move him/her away from a house forcefully.
More Adaptable Than Dogs: Cats are usually more adaptable than dogs. If a loyal dog is separated from his/her master and given to somebody else, it may not survive. But cats adopt second or even third master quite easily. So that is why cats stay on in the house when the masters leave. If the next occupant of the house is kind to the cat, they happily adopt them as masters.
Cats are hard to train: When a dog comes into a household, it is first trained by the family and then by a professional trainer. But a pet cat rarely goes to a trainer to receive training. That is why cats are not used to obedience.
Cats are outdoor animals: Cats usually prefer to be outdoors even after being a pet. Many people do even keep the cat inside the house during night. Cats are attached to the house but they prefer to live around it than inside.
So we cannot really quantify whether cats are more attached to their master or the house they live in. Let us just say that a house is more special for a cat just like the master is for a dog.
