Distemper
Distemper combination vaccines cover diseases like Distemper Virus, Parvovirus, Adenovirus and Parainfluenza Virus in a single injection. This vaccination should be given to the puppy after 6-8 weeks of age.
Distemper is a nasty virus that is highly contagious. Distemper is one of the leading cause of death among dogs. Young puppies are more prone to the virus than adult dogs. Distemper shows signs of respiratory problems combined with high fewer. The disease is, in most cases fatal.
Rabies is a viral that causes inflamation of the brain. It is a fatal disease and can effect humans too. The incubation period of the virus depends on the days it needs to travel to the brain.
Rabies is transmitted by animals, especially by animal bite. Giving anti-rabies vaccines to your dogs is required by the Indian law.
Rabies vaccine should be given when the dog is between 16-18 weeks of age. An additional jab is given after one year, after which boosters are given every three years.
Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is caused by a spirochete called Borrelia Burgdorferri. This bacteria is caused by tick-bites and it might lead to various cardiac, kidney and neurological disorders.
Two shots of this vaccine should be given to your pet in a gap of three weeks followed by annual boosters. Checking your dog regularly for ticks also helps prevent this diseases. You can also use a good anti tick shampoo or tick collars to keep ticks at bay.
