Remove Mud Stains From White Clothes
While stepping out during the rains, we have to be prepared for the splashes of dirty water to stain our clothes. It would be useless to curse or crib over these stains. The best thing we can do is to be prepared.
Stay away from puddles and potholes as far as possible. However, not everything goes in our favour and a splash here and there becomes inevitable. Even a small speck of dirty water can deface an entire dress.

Do not let the rains stain our days this time around. Stay a step ahead by being prepared to fight them. It does not take too much to remove mud stains. All we need to do is stock up on a few basic items. Most of these can be found in the house. You will need the following items to start with:
Detergent: This is the basic cleaning agent and always present at home. You can use either liquid or powder detergent.
Dishwash: When cleaning delicate clothes, dishwash comes in handy.
Vinegar: This is a multipurpose cleaner and also does wonders for clothes. You need to use the simple white distilled vinegar. Vinegar also helps to maintain white clothes in rain or otherwise.
Baking soda: This is another cleaning agent and in combination with vinegar, you can fight tough stains.
Eye dropper: This dropper helps pour cleaning agents precisely in small areas.
Lemon: The acidic nature of lemon attacks the toughest of stains.
Hydrogen peroxide: Combined with other cleaning items, we can prepare our very own stain remover.
Knife or spoon: When you need to remove mud stains, a dull knife or a spoon can do the job perfectly.
Stain removal methods:
Using our stain removing items, we are all set to remove mud stains.
Immediate action: This is the best action that one can take to remove stains. If possible, soak and wash the garment as soon as it gets stained. This will be a sure shot and easiest method of getting rid of stains.
Homemade stain remover: Mix one cup of water, half cup hydrogen peroxide, half cup baking soda and half cup vinegar to prepare our very own and effective stain remover. To use it, you can boil a container full of water, add a rather generous amount of stain remover and some dishwash. Insert the stained clothes and make sure that the clothes are fully submerged. Allow it to soak for a couple of hours. You can then put the clothes in the machine for washing.
Scraping: If the mud stains have dried out on the garment, it would be best to remove the mud in the dry form and then put for washing. Using the knife or spoon gently, scrape off every bit of the mud. This will not only remove the extra dirt but it will also make cleaning far more effective.
Hot lemon water treatment: An effective way to maintain white clothes in rains is to give them the hot lemon treatment. In a large vessel, boil water with lemon slices. Add the white clothes and allow it to boil for a couple of minutes. The lemon will help take away the yellow tinge from strands of thread throughout the garment.
