However, carpet stains removal is an easy task. There are many home remedies for carpet stains. Most carpets that you get these days come with strain-resistant treatments. But, remember to first check for carpet care instructions and precautions to be followed before proceeding with any carpet stain removal.
Carpet Stains Removal Tips -
Blood: Rinse the blood stain with cold water. (hot water might set the stain). Then blot the water with white paper towels. Add a few drops of dish washing solution into cold water and wash the stain with this solution. Do this till you do not see any trace of the blood on the blotting paper. Fan dry the stained area or place a few blotting papers and keep a heavy book on it till all the water gets soaked up.
Ketchup: Add a tablespoon of household ammonia to half a class of water. Put this solution into a spray bottle and keep spraying and blotting until you do not see any part of the stain on the paper. Once you have made sure that the stains are removed, rinse with water and blot-dry following the same method as described in the above point. Soft drink stains too can be removed by using this method. This is one of the home remedies for carpet stains.
Coffee: Carefully pick up the coffee, without allowing it to spread. Use a mild detergent solution that has been mixed with warm water and clean using the spray and blot method. Next, mix 3 parts of vinegar with 6 parts water and apply this to the stained area. Repeat the procedure and till you don't see any stains on your blotting paper. This is one of the most used carpet stain removal tip.
Rust Stains: Rust stains on carpets can be removed by using an acidic solution like lime juice. Apply the lime juice on the stained area and blot it with a white blotting paper. Repeat process till you do not see any trace of the stain. Rinse and blot-dry the area with plain water, before drying the stained area. If the stains are very stubborn contact a professional carpet cleaner or use a commercial product.
Dye Stains: Add a little soap solution to water and apply it on the stain. Dry it every time with a blotting paper till you don't see any stain getting transferred on the blotting paper towel. Next, apply 3% hydrogen peroxide and leave it for 15 minutes. Ensure that the hydrogen peroxide does not soak till the bottom of the carpet.
One important thing to be kept in mind while removing carpet stains is to remove the spill when the spill is still fresh. Allowing it to dry up will make the cleaning task difficult. Apart from following these carpet stain removal tips, regularly getting your carpet cleaned by a professional will help in maintaining the durability of your precious carpet.
