How To Add Festive Vibe To Your Home During Navratri, 6 Decor Tips To Form A Serene Outlook!
Navratri is one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals and is celebrated to mark the victory of the goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil! Devotees visit temples dedicated to Goddess Durga and participate in special pujas and prayers and even create a Ghatasthapana by placing a Kalash or pot in their home mandirs that symbolizes Maa Durga for nine days.
Overall, Navratri or Durgostav brings a happy atmosphere into spaces and provides the perfect opportunity to make your home appear festive-ready! Preparing your home for Navratri can create a festive and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

Here are six tips to make your home Navratri-ready.
Clean and Decorate
Before you begin prepping up your space for Navratri, make sure that your home is clean and clutter-free. Get rid of objects in corner spaces, cabinets, and tabletops that are no longer required or give them away for a good cause or recycling purposes. Once your space is clean, accentuate the same with traditional decor items like rangoli (decorative floor art), torans (door hangings), and fresh flowers. Introduce vibrant colours like red, yellow, and green to form a cheerful ambience!
Set Up an Altar or Puja Space
Create a dedicated altar or puja space where you can perform daily puja rituals and prayers to honour Goddess Durga. Accentuate this area with idols or images of goddess Durga, diyas, incense sticks, and fresh flowers. Light the lamps and incense daily during the Navratri festival!
Dress Up Your Space
Elevate the rest of your home with traditional decor items like wall hangings, garlands, and lanterns. You can also add silk or satin drapes with traditional motifs and patterns to add elegance and drama to the space. Accentuate the seating with decorative cushions with bold colours and traditional designs.
Add a festive flair to the tabletops, and coffee tables by placing decorative aroma candles. Pick a big-sized brass bowl, fill it with water add some fresh flowers, and tea lights inside the same and place it at the entrance or foyer of the home. It helps add a welcoming and serene touch to your space.
Special Lighting
Use decorative and festive lighting to illuminate your space. String lights, decorative lamps, and lanterns are the perfect options to add brightness and a warm atmosphere. Light some clay divas and aroma cables and arrange them on tabletops, windowsills, or floors to make the space inviting and appealing!
Dandiya and Garba Corner
If you plan to host Dandiya and Garba Raas at home, create a special area for these activities. Form enough space in your living room or outdoor area for dancing. Arrange for Dandiya sticks, props, light snacks, and drinking water for guests. Encourage them to dress in ethnic attire!

Traditional Music and Food
Play Navratri music or bhajans in the background to add to the cheerful festive vibe. Prepare and serve traditional Navratri dishes like sabudana khichdi, kuttu puri, and sweets of your choice to complete the experience for your family and guests!
Navratri is a spiritual reflection and forms a celebratory atmosphere everywhere, so create an environment that encourages devotion and enjoyment. You can involve your family members and friends in the Navratri decor process to make a collective, joyous, and memorable affair!
