In order to grow popcorn, you will need to plant popcorn seeds in short rows. Planting them in about two or three rows would suffice. Pollination must be ensured, so make sure you plant them a good distance apart- about 30-35 inches apart. Corn grows best during the rainy season. So just before the rainy season, make sure you fertilize the plant to give it an impetus for better growth. Allow the plant to grow to a good height.
Wait for the stalks to grow to knee height and hill them up by treating soil in between rows. You must allow the husk of the plant that covers the ears to turn brown for best results. Corn is susceptible to frost. So make sure you harvest all the ears before the weather becomes intense. Once done, shuck corn ears and allow the plant to stay dry for a few weeks. Too much exposure to the sun isn't advisable.
You can expose your plant partially to the sun.
