The moment one gets a headache, a few people mistake it to be a migraine headache. But, one needs to understand that not every headache that you get is related to migraine. There is a difference between a normal headache and a migraine.
How does a migraine headache differ from a normal one then? So, today in this article we will be explaining about the basic symptoms and how one can distinguish a migraine headache from a normal one.

Increasing stress level, work pressure, deadlines and most of all the increase in sedentary lifestyle are a few of the major causes of migraine. Other circumstances that can cause a migraine trigger are hormonal imbalance, depression or it could also be caused due to the overuse of contraceptive pills.
Due to these reasons, over the past few years we have been witnessing an increasing number of migraine cases, assert experts. As World Health Day is just around, this article throws some light on the ways to identify a migraine headache.
Listed here are a few of the major factors that help one to differentiate a migraine headache from a normal one.
1. Headache On One Side of Head:
Not every headache that people experience is migraine. A typical headache that people experience only on one side of the head is the basic symptom of a migraine.
2. Severe Throbbing Pain:
A normal headache would not be so painful. But in case of a migraine headache the pain is severe and throbbing. Once you get the pain you cannot concentrate on anything.
Nausea & Vomiting:
In case of a migraine headache, as the pain starts aggravating you tend to have that feeling of nausea and vomiting.
Sensitivity To Light & Sound:
When you have a normal headache you do not get affected much by the light and the sound but in case of a migraine headache, as the pain worsens even a slight light and sound can affect you and make you feel irritated.
5. Pain Worsens With Physical Activity:
Whenever you have a migraine headache the pain tends to worsen even with the slightest of physical activity. In fact you will not be able to walk . You will want to lie down for a long time.
6. Irritation:
A migraine headache makes you irritated, which is not the case with a normal headache. Even a slight noise makes you irritated and you just want to close your ears.
7. Stuffy Nose & Watery Eyes:
Stuffy nose and watery eyes accompanied by headache is one of the major symptoms that a person is suffering from a migraine headache.
8. Craving For Certain Foods:
For those suffering from a migraine headache, they also tend to have a craving for certain foods like chocolates just before the symptoms strike them hard.
9. Eye Pain:
Severe eye pain is yet another major symptoms of migraine. Often people mistake migraine for an eye problem and get their eyes checked.
10. Dizziness:
Headache accompanied by dizziness, blurred vision and problem in balancing themselves are a few of the major symptoms that those suffering from migraine can have.
