According to a study conducted by the researchers from the University of Southampton it has been found that consuming 3-4 cups of coffee a day can have substantial health benefits.
Reduction in the risk of liver disease, diabetes, dementia and some form of cancer are few of the major benefits one can derive from drinking 3 cups of coffee a day, as per the study.
In addition to these benefits, the study which is based on a review of over 200 studies further stated that drinking coffee can substantially lower the risk of death and heart disease as well. Meanwhile, the study even went as far as claiming that coffee drinkers were less likely to die from stroke.
Though consuming coffee in moderate amount can do good to your health, but one should be careful about its consumption in excess. As this can lead to certain side-effects and turn harmful to your health.
However, people who do not respond well to coffee should keep themselves away from it. Also pregnant women should be careful about high coffee consumption as this might harm their health.
The study was recently published in the BMJ.

Coffee contains a stimulant called caffeine that blocks an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This provides a stimulant effect there by improving the energy levels, mood and various aspects of brain function.

Coffee contains essential minerals like magnesium and potassium, which helps the human body use insulin, thus regulating blood sugar levels and reducing your craving for sugary treats and snacks. In addition coffee contains caffeine that helps to break down the fat cells and thus aids in weight loss.
3. Lowers The Risk Of Diabetes:
The caffeine contained in coffee helps in reducing the risk of type-2 diabetes. Caffeine helps in decreasing the insulin sensitivity and impairs glucose tolerance. This in turn helps in reducing the risk of type-2 diabetes.

Coffee contains caffeine that helps stimulate the central nervous system and boosts production of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline, which helps in fighting depression.
