Eye Bag Surgery
Eye bag surgery is the process of taking off the excess or sagging skin from under the eyes. An incision is made under the eyelid, which extends 1 cm outwards. The skin is then lifted and the excess fat and overlapping skin is removed. Then the incision is closed.
Eye bags don't occur only under the eyes but also takes place on the upper eye lid. An incision is made just above the upper eye lid, which extends to the outer corner of the eyes. The excess fat and skin layers are removed and the sagging muscles are trimmed. It is then closed.
The medical term of eye bag surgery is Blepharoplasty surgery. It takes around 2 to 3 hours. The recovery period varies from patient to patient. The stitch however is taken off within five days and the swelling subsides within 10 days. The patient should take good care of the eyes for atleast a week and it is advised that they avoid eyes strain for minimum of three weeks.
Side Effects Of Eye Bag Surgery
1.Infection - This is a rare occurrence but sometimes infections do attack the eyes after the surgery. It won't harm much if proper ointment and drops are taken on time.
2.Blood Clot - Sometimes blood clot takes place after the surgery around the eyeball or in the corner of the eyes. A second operations needs to be done in order to remove the blood clot.
3.Pain – A slight pain is expected but is the pain is more then it maybe a sign of growing infection.
4.Dry Eyes – Dry Eyes is common after the eyes bag surgery, which usually is treated with eye drops and ointment.
Anyone with chronic eye bag problem can undergo the surgery but people above the age of 35 are at lesser risk of serious side effects.
