How To Keep A Healthy Prostate
The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located in the pelvic area just below the outlet of the bladder and in front of the rectum. It is positioned in such a way that it is wrapped around the urethra, which is the tube that empties urine from the bladder. Its main function includes storing and producing seminal fluid. Seminal fluid is a milky liquid that nourishes sperm. The prostate gland is present only in males.
;Since the prostrate gland carries all these functions, when it "goes bad" a males sexual habits and his urination is affected. To keep ones sexual health intact, taking care of the prostrate gland is a must.
We must eat the right food to keep the prostate healthy, as is the case with the rest of our body. What is the right food? - A whole lot of vegetables and fruits, legumes, fresh fish (cold ocean water fish in particular like mackerel, salmon, cod or sardines), whole grain content food instead of refined grain content food, rice (basically grains) and pasta. The fish mentioned above have a good amount of fatty acids that work towards good health of the prostate.
;Meats with a lot of fat, food with lots of salt in it, hydrogenated oils (which also means that you stay away from deep fried stuff), factory products (because they are packed and processed-so anything else packed and processed), tea with no milk, alcohol, carbonated stuff, coffee and pasturised milk based food items like cheese are an absolute no-no. These give your gland another reason to go bad.
;Your prostate can go bad because it has been infected (Prostitis) or has grown large (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy -BHP). Another prostate disease is prostate cancer. Prostate cancer has no symptoms to show its presence at times but most of the times it has the same affect on the body as Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy which are dribbling of urine, very frequent urination, excess urination at night and a growing urgency to urinate to mention few of the symptoms. To check the presence of Prostate cancer, a PSA test to test the same should be conducted at the end of every six-month period once over 45 years of age. In the case of prostitis, pain and fever are two of the symptoms apart from frequent problems while urinating. For all these conditions, there are treatments available - Both alternative and mainstream. For immediate treatment, following the eating habits mentioned is suggested.
