Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023: The Dos And Don'ts Of Healthy Menstruation
Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on 28 May every year. The day aims to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. It was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2014 and the date 28 was chosen to acknowledge that 28 days is the average length of the menstrual cycle.
Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023 theme is 'making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030.'

The Dos And Don'ts Of Healthy Menstruation
Menstrual hygiene is an important aspect of reproductive and overall health for women. It is important to take proper care of yourself during this time to ensure your physical and mental well-being.
In India, menstrual hygiene is often not discussed openly due to cultural taboos and gender-related stigma. Women often struggle to access affordable, safe, and reliable menstrual hygiene products, and many are not aware of the importance of proper menstrual hygiene.
There is a need for increased awareness about menstrual hygiene in India in order to ensure that women are able to properly care for themselves.
So, on this Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023, here are some dos and don'ts of healthy menstruation.
Here are some tips to help you practice proper menstrual hygiene:

Do's:
• Wash your hands before and after changing your menstrual hygiene products, such as a tampon or pad.
• Change your menstrual hygiene products regularly, especially after swimming or exercising.
• Wear breathable, comfortable clothing during your period.
• Wash your genital area at least once a day with warm water and mild soap.
• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and replace lost electrolytes.
Don'ts:
• Do not use scented soaps or products that may irritate your skin.
• Do not wear tight clothing or swimwear for extended periods of time.
• Do not douche or use feminine hygiene sprays.
• Do not use scented tampons or pads as they can cause irritation.
• Do not leave your menstrual hygiene products in for too long, as this can cause infections.

On A Final Note...
Women need to take extra care to ensure that they are using the correct products and changing them frequently. This helps to maintain good hygiene and reduces the risk of infection.
It is also important to maintain a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get adequate rest during this time.
