Quick Ayurvedic Remedies For Toenail Fungal Infection (Foot Care For Monsoon)
Like any other parts of the body, keeping up the hygiene of feet is also equally important.
Often, we might have heard our parents shouting at us to keep our feet dry, especially during the monsoon season.
We hardly realised the need and reasons for it at that point of time.

Now with the approaching monsoon, for few of them, the rains are irresistible and they get drenched in the rain purposely, realising little that they need to take care of their feet, once they are enjoying the rains.
They tend to ignore the wet feet and allow them to dry by themselves. This is how silently such people become the victims of a toenail fungal infection.
As an initial symptom, the affected nail would turn yellow or brownish in colour.

If not taken care of, the nail would become thick and painful, making it difficult for one to wear shoes. At times, it would also emit a foul smell, following which the nail would fall off.
Several ointments and tablets are available as a curative measure to treat toenail fungal infection; however, of all, Ayurvedic, home remedies are known to have the best cure for such a toenail fungal infection.
Here are 10 quick Ayurvedic remedies for a toenail fungal infection. Have a look:
1. Tea Tree Oil:
Dip cotton in tea tree oil and apply it on the toe nail twice in a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. This will have effective results in lowering the infection.
2. Olive Oil:
Take a teaspoon of olive oil and add a few drops of oregano essential oil to it. Mix it and apply it on the toe nail. This helps in treating the fungal infection effectively.
3. Turmeric Powder Paste:
Take a teaspoon of turmeric powder, mix it with some water and prepare a thick paste. Apply it on the toe nail. Once it gets dry, wash it off and dry your feet properly.
4. Lavender Oil:
Take a teaspoon of lavender oil, mix it with an equal amount of tea tree oil, add a few drops of olive oil to it as well. Apply this mixture twice in a day. This helps fight the infection.
5. Lime Juice:
Take a teaspoon of concentrated lime juice, soak cotton in it and then apply it on the toe nail. This will help in doing away with the fungal infection.
6. Neem Leaves:
Neem leaves, a traditional Ayurvedic ingredient, are known for their many medicinal properties. Take a few neem leaves, add them to boiling water and strain. Once the extract is cooled, add a few drops of garlic oil and tree tree oil. Apply this on the toe nail.
7. Cedar:
Cedar has antiseptic and antifungal properties. Soak the leaves or the bark of cedar in a bottle of either almond oil or olive oil. Keep it for about a week or two and then apply it on the toe nails.
8. Calendula:
Its antifungal properties help kill the fungus. Soak the calendula leaves in hot boiling water for half an hour, dip the toe nails in this water. Keep it for a while and rinse thoroughly.
9. Chamomile:
Known since ancient times for its antifungal properties, chamomile helps treat the fungal infection efficiently. Take a few chamomile leaves, soak them in hot water for about an hour or two. Dip the feet into this for a while. Tap the feet dry once it's done.
10. Licorice:
The roots of licorice which have antifungal properties need to be boiled in hot water. Later, allow it to get absorbed in the water for about half an hour. Soak cotton cloth in the solution and then dab it on top of the toenails and rinse your feet dry when done.
