Home remedies have been found to be effective in treating sleep apnea. A few of them are explained here.
When your sleep gets disturbed due to difficulty in breathing then you must be suffering from a serious sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. If you are facing this problem frequently then it needs to be checked immediately, else it might lead to other serious health conditions like depression, diabetes and also increased risk of heart problem.
For conditions like this there is no better treatment measure than taking up home remedies. It is one of the best ways to prevent sleep disorder.

So what exactly causes sleep apnea? When the normal breathing rhythm of a person gets affected due to blockage in the airways, it leads to a condition called sleep apnea. This affects the quality of sleep, causes excess snoring, causes waking up in the middle of sleep with difficulty in breathing and also causes dry mouth.
For those who are obese, have a heart problem and have the habit of excess smoking and drinking alcohol and those with a family history of sleep apnea are among those who are at a higher risk. Hence, bringing about a change in the lifestyle also helps prevent sleep apnea.
Here is a list of natural treatment measures to get rid of sleep apnea. Take a look.

1. Garlic:
Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, consuming 2-3 cloves of garlic every morning on an empty stomach enhances proper breathing and sleep.

2. Turmeric Milk:
Add a teaspoon of turmeric to boiling milk and then keep boiling it for a few minutes. Remove from the stove, allow the milk to turn warm enough to drink. Have this half an hour before going to bed. This helps treat sleep apnea effectively.

3. Cinnamon:
The sedative property in cinnamon helps in treating breathing problem and helps in sleeping better. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of hot water and drink this once a day.

4. Honey:
Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, honey helps in reducing the swelling around the throat that causes problem in breathing. This in turn helps prevent sleep apnea. Add a teaspoon of honey to warm water and then drink before going to bed.

5. Peppermint:
Add a few drops of peppermint oil to a glass of water and then gargle using this water before going to bed. It enhances proper breathing as well as sleep.

6. Lavender:
Add a few drops of lavender oil to a bowl of hot water. Inhale the steam before going to bed. This helps in treating the symptoms of sleep apnea.

7. Cardamom:
Cardamom is known for its decongestant properties. It helps open up the blocked nasal passage and enhances sleep. Add a bit of cardamom powder to a glass of warm water, mix it well and then drink it half an hour before going to sleep.

8. Chamomile Tea:
Chamomile is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It helps relax the muscles and enhances sleep. Add a bit of dried chamomile leaves to hot boiling water and steep it for a while. Strain it and then drink it before going to bed.

9. Almonds:
Almonds help in relaxing the muscles and in promoting good sleep. Eat 7-10 pieces of soaked almonds every day; this helps in preventing sleep apnea.

10. Hot Water Steam:
Take a bowl of hot water. With your head held down towards the bowl inhale the steam for about 5-7 minutes. Do this before going to bed. It helps.
