Hypertension Symptoms – The Silent Killer
Hypertension or High Blood Pressure, is often known as silent killer. At the beginning, the symptoms of Hypertension is not drastic and is often ignored by people, which then goes on to make it a severe problem. Blood Pressure is the force with which blood is forced against the walls of the blood vessels. If the pressure is more then it forces the heart to work harder, thus, making the organ weak and leading to several other health related problems.
One of the major causes of High Blood Pressure is obesity. Most of the obese people suffer this disease. (obesity cures) The other reasons are stress, alcohol, smoking, Vitamin D deficiency and kidney diseases.
There are several levels of Hypertension and is divided into four categories -
Normal – Less than 120/80
Stage One – 120-139/ 80-89
Stage Two – 160 and above/100 and above.
Here are some common symptoms of Hypertension -
1.Headache – Headache is one of the first symptoms of Hypertension. There has still not been enough evidences of why it causes headache but the usual reason is pressure on the veins. This headache is also called tension headache. If ignores this may grow up to be migraine.
2.Blurring of vision – Blurring of vision is one of the most dangerous symptoms. Due to excessive blood pressure on eye vessels, it could be damaged which results in swelling of the optic nerve, blurred vision and if not administered on time may lead to loss of vision.
3.Bleeding Nose – Nose has several blood vessels located in vulnerable points in the nose. Thus, nose is easily hurt and starts bleeding. In case of high blood pressure, the arteries inside the nose gets damaged and thus starts bleeding. Nose bleeds are often not taken seriously but you are facing it quite often it is advised to go to a doctor.
4.Dizziness – Dizziness often happens due to High Blood Pressure but at the same time fluctuation of pressure can also one of the reasons. When pressure starts affecting your nervous system, dizziness is the result.
5.Palpitation – This is also a common symptom of Hypertension. The worst affected is the heart, as it gets the most pressure. As mentioned earlier, high pressure puts more pressure on the heart and thus increases palpitation. High palpitation, may lead to be the cause of heart stroke.
These symptoms of Hypertension, start much before they become one of the major health problems. They reach a serious level due to ignorance. Self medication of headache and other problems may sometime add on to the cause, Thus, the best advice is to visit a doctor.
