Why You Should Not Neglect Ear Infection?
It is the beautiful season of Spring/Summer and it's a bliss to go for a walk amidst the fresh playful air but at the time it is adding on to your feel good factor, little do we know that it might lead to some season change sickness. Ear infection is one of the major sickness during this time.
Ear Infection – We all have an outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. When a bacteria effects the middle ear travelling it's way up on the eustachian tube, infection takes place. In case of this infection, the middle ear swells up, causing blockage in the eustachian tube and thus causing pain. It is often accompanied with irritation and pain because due to blockage of the middle ear, the ear drums are pressurized. It can be caused due to collection of ear wax, cough and cold or as a withdrawal symptom of flu.
Symptoms – Some of the common symptoms are ear pain, swelling, ear irritation, fever, headache and one of the major symptoms is the ear infection hearing loss.
Ear Infection Hearing Loss - Sounds are first collected in the outer ear, from there it travels to the middle ear and then finally to the inner ear, from where the sounds are converted into electrical signals and sent to brain as a message. The infection affects worse on the middle and the inner ear. The fluid collected in the middle ear and swelling hinders the sound to travel from the middle ear to the inner ear. This is what causes the ear infection hearing loss. Because of this ear infection hearing loss, the inner ear cannot send the right signals to the brain for the message to be decoded and thus, the person finds it difficult.
