Women Ignoring Infections
Vaginal infections are not something that any woman wants, but there are times when it is an unavoidable fact of life. It is observed that by the time she reaches 25 years, every woman suffers from vaginal infections. At these times the best thing that you could do is to see consult your doctor; especially if this is the first time you"re experiencing something like it. “Vaginal infection had risen to 30 per cent this decade from 15 per cent in the last decade, causing infertility among young women" inform Dr (Prof) K Uma Devi, Head, Deaprtment of Obs & Gynae, M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bangalore. Vaginal infection has doubled in the country in the last decade as an increasing number of wash intimate areas,'' suggests Dr Prakash Kini of Cradle, Bangalore. Explaining that excessive use of women are leading a modern way of life with drug abuse & use of body care products.
The modern day women well find reasons to push that out of sight infection out of mind. Beside the fact it affects her embarrassingly private areas: as of her anatomy makes it all more convenient to ignore it, cross her fingers and hope it will go away. Maybe she will try an over the counter ointment or take a course of self prescribed antibiotics. But chances are; she won"t see her gynaec unless the problem reaches a do or die situation.
Women have as many reasons for ignoring her very private problems. Her life is as busy as, her day as full the demands made on her time and energy leave her little time to worry about a niggling infection. Besides, admitting to a sexual problem brings forth suspicion about her chastity. Women were born to suffer women"s problems anyway, and when one has lived with chronic lower backache, or gone burning is like a flea bite. In her list of priorities, after food and shelter, children and husbands and maybe in-laws, her health comes last.
Also important is education about the correct use of sanitary napkins and tampons, which more urban young women are adopting. Plus awareness that synthetic underwear and very tight jeans could give rise to conditions that make girls more susceptible to vaginal infections ''The only way to prevent vaginal infection is to lead a healthy life along with less use of detergents to beauty soaps and water upsets the acidic level in the vaginal area, thereby causing discomfort such as itching, odour and soreness and making the woman more susceptible to a host of infections.
Doctors advise women to use good feminine wash suitable to their body and approach doctors at the earliest when they notice any symptom for maintaining a good sex health.
