NEWME Survey Finds Young Indian Women Are Choosing Peace, Independence And Self-Expression Over Perfection
At 34, Asif Khan Suffers A Heart Scare: ‘Panchayat’ Actor Joins A List Of Celebs Who’ve Faced The Same
When news broke that Asif Khan, the 34-year-old actor known for roles in 'Panchayat', 'Mirzapur', 'Paatal Lok', and 'The Bhootni', had suffered a heart attack, it didn't feel like distant celebrity news. It felt uncomfortably real.
Young, active, seemingly healthy-Asif didn't fit the idea most people have of someone who might have a heart attack. But this week, he was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, treated promptly, and is now in a stable condition. He's expected to be discharged soon and will remain under medical supervision as he recovers.
Following the incident, Asif shared a personal message on Instagram. A simple ceiling photo from his hospital bed was paired with words that were raw and honest:
"Realising after watching this for past 36 hours Life is short, dont take one day for granted, everything can change in a moment, be grateful for all you have and all that you are. Remember who is more important to you and always cherish them. Life is a gift and we are blessed"
Heart Attacks In Younger Adults: The Growing Pattern
Heart attacks aren't limited to a certain age group anymore. Doctors have been seeing more cases in people under 45-especially those living high-stress lifestyles, working odd hours, or ignoring symptoms.
It's easy to miss the early signs. Discomfort in the chest, sudden fatigue, shortness of breath, pain in the arm or jaw-these are often brushed off as tiredness or acidity. But catching these signs early can save a life.
Asif Khan joins a growing list of Indian celebrities who've survived heart attacks in their 30s and 40s, speaking about the experience later. Their stories help us understand that health isn't something that can be postponed for later.
Indian Celebrities Who Survived Heart Attacks
Sushmita Sen At Age 47
The former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor revealed via Instagram that she had suffered a heart attack due to a 95% blockage in one of her arteries. She underwent angioplasty and had a stent placed. Sushmita said she was already disciplined about fitness, but the incident still came as a shock. She later posted:
"Keep your heart happy and courageous, and it'll stand by you when you need it most."
Shreyas Talpade At Age 47
The 'Iqbal' and 'Golmaal' actor suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while dubbing for the film Welcome to the Jungle. He collapsed after reaching home and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent emergency angioplasty. He later said the experience taught him "how unpredictable life can be."
Sunil Grover At Age 44
The actor-comedian underwent heart surgery at Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute after experiencing discomfort. Tests revealed he had blockages in all three major arteries, and doctors performed bypass surgery. Despite the seriousness of his condition, he recovered well and resumed acting later that year.
Saif Ali Khan At Age 36
While on his way to a stage performance at an awards show in Mumbai, Saif experienced mild chest pain and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital. Doctors confirmed it was a minor heart attack, and he was advised rest and lifestyle changes. Saif publicly acknowledged the warning, stating that he had been smoking heavily and was under stress at the time.
Remo D'Souza At Age 46
The choreographer and director of 'ABCD' and 'Street Dancer' was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after suffering a major heart attack at home. He had 100% blockage in one artery and underwent angioplasty. His wife Lizelle said he was lucky they acted quickly. He recovered within weeks and returned to work soon after.
What These Stories Tell Us
These aren't isolated cases. They point to a larger issue: the growing pressure to power through pain, the tendency to delay check-ups, and the assumption that youth equals immunity. It doesn't.
Most of these celebrities had no major health conditions beforehand. What they did have was access to quick medical help, which made all the difference.
We can take a lot from that-especially the need to listen to our bodies. You don't need to be feeling awful to go in for a heart check. A basic health screening, especially after 30, is no longer something to put off.
