"'Fashion Is Something That Makes You Happy': Simple Kaul On Style, Comfort, And Dressing With Confidence
"Fashion is something that makes one happy. When you style well, you feel good. When you style well, you attract better."
For Simple Kaul, those words are less a fashion quote and more a way of living.
The television actress, known for her performances across beloved shows including Shararat, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Bhakharwadi, and Ziddi Dil Maane Na, has spent years in an industry that places enormous emphasis on appearance. And yet, her approach to fashion is strikingly uncomplicated, grounded in comfort, shaped by personality, and entirely her own.
"Comfort With Style" - A Philosophy, Not A Compromise
Ask Simple to define fashion in her own words, and she doesn't reach for a trend report or a mood board. "Fashion means comfort with style," she says simply.
For her, dressing up should never feel like a task. The best looks, she believes, are the ones that effortlessly blend ease with individuality - outfits that let you move through the world feeling like yourself rather than performing a version of yourself for an audience.
"My personal style is mostly easy, sporty, fun, and light," she shares. Whether she is on set navigating long shoot hours, attending an industry event, or spending a quiet day off on her own terms, Simple reaches for clothes that allow her to breathe, move, and simply be.
What Years On Camera Taught Her About Getting Dressed
Working in television for as long as she has, Simple is the first to acknowledge that her relationship with fashion has not stayed static.
"Of course, it has changed quite a bit," she says. "I have become more aware about styling and looking a certain way both on and off camera."
That awareness, she is careful to note, does not mean she has surrendered to industry pressure. If anything, years in front of the lens have sharpened her sense of what works for her - and what doesn't. The knowledge of presentation that comes with a television career has informed her choices, but the foundation remains authenticity. Knowing how to look good for a frame does not mean dressing for the frame when the cameras are off.
When What You Wear Changes How You Feel
Simple's approach to fashion carries an emotional undercurrent that goes beyond aesthetics. She speaks about dressing well not as vanity, but as an act of self-care - one with real, measurable effects on confidence and mood.
"Fashion is something that makes one happy," she says. "When you style well, you feel good. When you style well, you attract better."
It is a sentiment that cuts through a great deal of the noise around fashion discourse - the idea that style, at its most useful, is a quiet form of power. Not about impressing a room, but about how you feel walking into one.
Timeless Over Trendy, Every Time
In an industry driven by what is new, what is next, and what is currently circulating on every feed, Simple has made a deliberate choice to step back from the churn.
"I definitely prefer comfort and timeless styles," she says.
She is not dismissive of trends - she simply refuses to be enslaved by them. Fashion, in her view, should enhance who you are, not overpower it. A wardrobe built on pieces that stand the test of time, that suit your body and your temperament, will always serve you better than one assembled in frantic pursuit of the latest moment.
More Than What You Wear
In an industry where appearances often take centre stage, Simple Kaul's fashion sensibility is quietly radical. It asks nothing dramatic - only that you dress in a way that makes you feel like yourself, that you choose comfort without abandoning style, and that you resist the anxiety of keeping up with everything.
"Fashion means comfort with style," she said at the start of this conversation.
By the end of it, it is clear that for Simple, this is not a fashion statement.
It is a personal one.
