LFW WF 2015: Aditi Rao Hydari Dazzles In Ritu Kumar's Varanasi Weaves

Ace fashion designer Ritu Kumar reinvented the intricate embroidery and weaves of Banaras in her all new collection, 'Varanasi Weaves'. Ritu Kumar brought back handloom weaves on the ramp on the Indian Handloom and Textile day at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

Aditi Rao Hydari turned the showstopper for the veteran designer and looked breathtaking in a pink and golden silk saree. The actress draped the saree in the fusion style and paired it with golden raw silk pants.

Reviving the rich weaving techniques, skills and mastery of Varanasi, the veteran designer presented a collection consisting of tailored garments and sarees presented against a dramatic backdrop of an beautiful documentary shot in Varanasi.

Metallic brocades with silks, the weaving of white-on-white threads as well as the gyaser, a method used to weave the lampas that are commissioned by Buddhist and Tibetan monasteries were used by the designer in 'Varansai Weaves'.

Traditional embroideries and printing techniques were replaced by Chinese and metallic yarns in the collection. Cut work chudidars, Banarasi saris with gold and silver weaving, coats in lampas weaves and lehengas dominated her collection.

A wide variety of silk like Banarasi silk, chanderi silks, cotton-silk weaves on sarees, and satins were used. Motifs such as the badaam, kairi, shikargah and styled floral butis were used.

The last segment of her collection had cocktail and bridal wear presented beautifully on the ramp. From lehengas and chudidars to farshi pyjamas, we saw it all. The bridal couture were in georgette and silks worn with velvet blouses.

The colour palette consisted of aubergine, brown, purple, peacock blue and gold hues on beautiful vintage designs.

Aditi Rao Hydari turned into a desi bride in a pink silk saree for Ritu Kumar. The showstopper wore the saree with golden raw silk pants.
