Quick Aloo Dum For Working Women
Aloo or potato is one of the widely used vegetables in the Indian cuisine. Lots of dishes are prepared using aloo. From aloo tikki to aloo dum, the dishes vary in the menu pages, but taste delicious as always!
Aloo dum is one of the most popular side dishes popular in the Indian cuisine. There are many ways to prepare the gravy rich aloo dum. However, most of the recipes require a lot of time. Quick Aloo Dum Recipe For Dinner

Serves: 4
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
- Potatoes- 5-6
- Onions- 2 (peeled and cut into 4 halves)
- Tomato- 2 (cut into 4 halves)
- Garlic- 5-6 pods
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Green chillies- 3
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 2tsp
- Coriander powder- 2tsp
- Garam masala- 1tsp
- Bay leaf- 1
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 4tbsp
- Water- ½ cup
Procedure
- Wash the potatoes and cut them into two halves. Pressure cook for the duration of 4-5 whistles.
- Meanwhile, make a paste of onions, garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder, cumin seeds red chilli powder, coriander powder using little water.
- When the pressure releases from the cooker, peel the boiled potatoes.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the boiled potatoes till they become light brown. Strain and keep aside.
- Keep 2 tablespoons oil in the same frying pan and now add cumin seeds and bay leaf.
- Add the paste and saute on a medium flame for 5-8 minutes.
- Make a paste of tomato and add it in the frying pan. Sprinkle salt and garam masala.
- Cook for another 3 minutes and then add the fried potatoes.
- Add ½ cup water and bring it to boil. After 2 minutes turn off the flame.
Your quick aloo dum is ready to eat. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot.
