Chana Usal Recipe For Ugadi
Chana usal is a tempting and mouthwatering dish which you can prepare on this Ugadi. It is a healthy as well as a quick recipe to prepare this festive season.
Chana usal is prepared with the sprouted black grams which is boiled and then cooked with a medley of spices. Adding coriander paste to the usal gives a wonderful flavour to the dish and makes it absolutely tantalizing.

So, prepare chana usal on Ugadi and have a healthy and tasty treat at home.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Sprouted chana- 1 cup (boiled)
- Garlic- 5 cloves (minced)
- Curry leaves- 5-6
- Cumin seeds- 1tbsp (crushed)
- Lemon juice- 2tbsp
- Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Coconut- ½ cup (grated)
- Coriander leaves- 1 small bunch
- Green chillies- 3
- Onion- 1 (chopped)
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Water- 2 cups
Procedure
1. Grind the coconut, coriander leaves and green chillies to a fine paste.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add the crushed cumin seeds, crushed garlic curry leaves to it.
3. Then add the prepared paste to it and simmer for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
4. Add water to it and bring it to boil.
5. Now add the boiled chana, salt, garam masala powder, lemon juice to it and cook for 8-10 minutes.
6. Once done, switch off the flame and garnish with chopped onions.
Chana usal is ready to be served. Enjoy this delicious dish all by itself.
