Rava Kichadi Recipe For Lunch
When it comes to an afternoon lunch, one would think of something that is healthy and filling for the stomach. The rava kichadi recipe is one such recipe that you should try out this afternoon. This vegetarian recipe made out of rava and healthy vegetables, is surely a treat for lunch.
This rava kichadi recipe is a delight as you add in fried cashew nuts which enhances the taste of the dish. The rava kichadi recipe is not only healthy for you to consume but also easy to make. It is one of the fastest recipes you can prepare with the main ingredient- rava/sooji.

Ingredients
- White Rava - 2 Cups
- Onion - 1 (chopped)
- Green chilli - 5 (chopped)
- Garlic - 2 (chopped)
- Ginger - 1 (chopped)
- Carrot - 1 (chopped into small pieces)
- Tomato - 1 (chopped)
- Peas - 1/2 cup
- Curry leaves - 5nos
- Coriander leaves - 1 sprig
- Cinnamon - 1 no
- Cloves - 2 nos
- Cardamom - 2 nos
- Cashew nuts - 25 gms
- Ghee - 4 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Oil - 3 tsp
- Water - 5 cups
- Salt to taste
Method
- You first need to heat the ghee in a pan. Fry the cashew nuts in the ghee on a low flame. Fry the cashew nuts until they turn golden brown in colour. Remove from the pan and keep it aside.
- To the pan add in another table spoon of ghee. Now add in the rava to the pan and stir over a medium flame. Fry the rava until the raw smell of rava is gone and keep it aside.
- Add in the mustard seeds and wait for it to pop.
- Now add in the cloves, cinnamon stick, cardamom and fry the ingredients for a minute or two.
- To the pan, add in the chopped onions, green chillies, curry leaves and fry the contents over a medium flame.
- To the mixture add in the chopped ginger & garlic.
- When the contents are fried well in the ghee, add the chopped carrot, green peas, tomato and fry the ingredients well.
- To the above mixture, when fried add 5 cups of water Add to the mixture salt to taste. Sprinkle a pinch of turmeric powder and bring the contents to a boil.
- When the water boils, reduce the flame and add the rava slowly to the pan. While adding the rava, keep stirring the ingredients to avoid lumps.
- Cook on low flame till the rava becomes soft and absorbs all the water.
- Add 2 table spoon of ghee, and mix the ingredients well.
- Take the pan out of the stove and garnish with fried cashew nuts & coriander leaves.
Your rava kichadi is now ready to eat. Serve and enjoy this meal hot.
