Thalipeeth: Maharashtrian Breakfast Recipe
Thalipeeth or masala roti is a Maharashtrian dish made with multi grain flours. It is a complete nutritional breakfast that not only fills the stomach but is equally healthy as multi grain flours go in to the making of the roti. It is a spicy and delicious breakfast that can be eaten with or without side dish. However in order to get the authentic
taste, it is good if it is eaten with some butter or yogurt or some dry garlic chutney.
This is a very simple and easy recipe. Another added advantage of having thalipeeth for breakfast is the fact that it consumes less oil. For people who are planning to go for a healthy diet this is a complete ideal breakfast that you should vouch. It all the nutritional benefits that is required for the overall health of the body.

Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes Ingredients
Ingredients
Besan powder or gram flour- 1 cup
Jowar flour- 1 cup
Rice flour- 1 cup
Bajra flour- 1/2 cup
Wheat flour- 1/2 cup
Chilli powder- 1tbsp
Coriander powder- 1tbsp
Cumin powder- 1tbsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder- 1tsp
Grated Jaggery - 2tbsp
Chopped Onion - 1/2 cup
Chopped Coriander - 1/4 cup
Garlic - 2tbsp (finely chopped)
Salt - as per taste
Method
1. Mix all the above ingredients with a cup of water and make a soft dough.
2. Cover and let the dough rest for about 10 minutes. After that make
small balls of the dough.
3. Pat each ball with fingers on a wet muslin cloth or a greased plastic
cover to roll out the thalipeeth.
4. Heat the tawa or a flat pan in the meantime.
5. Drop 1tsp of oil on the thalipeeth and put it on the hot tawa.
6. Toast the thalipeeth until it turns golden brown.
Your Maharashtrian thalipeeth is ready to eat. Serve it hot with a cup of tea to make it perfect. You can also serve it with dry garlic chutney or yoghurt or raita or fresh coconut and chilly powder.
