Palak Dhokla For A Healthy Breakfast
Dhokla is a popular dish from the vegetarian state of Gujarat. It is a steamed cake which is fluffy in texture and melts in your mouth as soon as you taste it. And more importantly it is one of the healthiest dish to start your day with.
Usually, dhokla is prepared with gram flour. But to add a little more healthy twist to this breakfast recipe we are adding in spinach. Yes, spinach dhokla tastes absolutely amazing. The goodness of spinach makes this dhokla recipe packed with nutrients which is essential for your body.

So, start your day with this awesome breakfast recipe of palak dhokla and have a healthy day ahead.
Serves: 3
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Besan (gram flour)- 1 cup
- Spinach- 2 bunches
- Yogurt- ½ cup (whisked)
- Ginger- 1 medium piece
- Green chillies- 3
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Lemon juice- 1tbsp
- Sugar- 1tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Fruit salt- 1tsp
For Seasoning
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Mustard seeds- 1tsp
- Sesame seeds- 1tsp
- Curry leaves- 4-5
- Hing- a pinch
- Water- 3tbsp
Procedure
1. Blanch or steam the spinach leaves and then make a puree of it along with ginger and green chillies in a mixer.
2. In bowl, take the besan, spinach puree, yogurt, salt, fruit salt, lemon juice, sugar and oil. Mix all the ingredients well with a spoon and make sure no lumps are formed.
3. Keep the mixture aside for about 10 minutes.
4. After that, grease a steam pan with very little oil and pour the mixture into it.
5. Steam it in a steamer for about 10-15 minutes until the mixture is completely cooked.
6. Once done, switch off the steamer and keep the dhoklas aside.
7. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, hing and saute for a few seconds.
8. Turn off the heat and then slowly add the water to the pan.
9. Pour this mixture over the dhoklas.
10. Cut the dhoklas into square pieces and serve.
