Idiyappam : Kerala's Famous Recipe
There is a well known saying which goes like this - Break the fast like a king, have lunch like a prince and dine like a poor person. This is why we suggest to you the famous Kerala dish called Idiyappam which is also called as noolappam. This breakfast recipe is one of the best and tasty dishes of Kerala. This healthy and nutritious Idiyappam in other words is rice noodles which are served with sweet coconut milk.
Today, we live in a fast pace world and everything is available readymade. The Idiyappam batter can be purchased from any local store. But, adding the essence to this Idiyappam Kerala special recipe is to be made by you.

Serves - 2
Cooking time - 15 minutes
Preparation time - 20 minutes
For the Idiyappam Kerala recipe, you will need as follows
Ingredients
Idiyappam flour - 1 cup
Coconut - 1 cup (grated)
Water - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Oil/ghee to grease the idli plates
Procedure
1. In a dish you first need to first boil the water.
2. Add the boiled water to the Idiyappam flour. Add in the salt and knead it to form a smooth dough.
3. Now add in a little of the dough to the idiyappam presser/idli plates.
4. Grease the idli plates with a few drops of oil or ghee.
5. Press some of the dough onto the idli plates.
6. The flour which is released will be in the shape of noodles.
7. Add the grated coconut on top of the dough.
8. Steam the Idiyappam for about 6 to 12 minutes.
9. When done, serve with sweet coconut milk.
Your Idiyappam Kerala dish is now ready. The best thing about this Kerala dish is to eat it cold!
