And more importantly food plays a very important part on all festive occasions. Janmashtami is no exception. Here is an easy recipe for making til laddoo.

Serves: 4-6
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
- Til (Sesame Seeds)- 7-8 cups
- Jaggery- ½ kg
- Ghee- ½ cup
- Camphor-1tsp
Procedure
- Take a deep bottomed frying pan over the gas oven and add ghee to it. Keep it on a low flame.
- After the ghee turns hot add the til (sesame seeds) to it. Fry it on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the gas oven and keep it aside.
- Now take another frying pan over the gas oven and keep it on a medium flame. Add the jaggery to it. Let it melt over a medium flame and then lower the gas flame.
- Add 1-2 cups of water to it. Stir it well for a minute on a low flame.
- Let the jaggery thicken substantially.
- Take a spoon and dip it in the jaggery. Then pick it up and hold it a little over the pan. If you find a fibre like string flowing out of the spoon, then the jaggery has just the right consistency for a laddoo.
- Pour the til (sesame seeds) into it now and stir well for 2-4 minutes. Add the camphor to it. Stir the entire ingredients in the pan for 1-2 minutes over a low flame.
- Turn off the gas oven and bring it down.
- Apply a few drops of ghee onto your palms and rub it well.
- Take lumps of the mixture in your hands while it is still hot and make small balls out of it. Repeat this for the whole of the mixture in the pan.
- Keep the til laddoos aside and let them cool. After cooling, they will harden up and form perfect laddoos for you to savour.
Serve the til laddoos to your guests and let them enjoy its blissful taste.
