Simple and Easy Sweet Moong Dal Kheer
Moong dal kheer is a very popular dessert in South India. If you have been to Kerala, then the famous paruppu payasam would have bowled you over. It is called moong dal kheer in North India. It is definitely a treat during this festival season.
In the moong dal kheer, jaggery is refined along with cashew nuts, ghee & raisins making it very nutritious. If you are on a holiday mood and do not want to toil in the kitchen too much, then the moong dal kheer recipe will be of a great help to you.
Here is a simple recipe of moong dal kheer from our Food Expert Usha Srikumar. This Indian dish is a delightful combination of moong dal and kheer, cooked till it becomes thick and sweet. So, lets try our hands on it.
Serves: 3
Preparation time: 20 minutes

All you need
Moong dal- 1 cup
Jaggery- 1½ cups
Milk- 3 cups
Elaichi- 4
Cashewnuts- 10-15 nos.
Ghee- 1 tbsp
Procedure
1. Wash and clean the moong dal, and pressure cook the dal with enough water.
2. Once it is cooked, mash the dal till becomes soft and smooth.
3. Dissolve the jaggery in hot water and strain it well. Later, in a pan, boil the syrup for a few minutes on medium flame.
4. Add powdered elaichi and the mashed dal into the mixture.
5. Stir the mixture well.
6. Add milk into it and let it boil for a few minutes.
7. Once it is boiled, keep is aside in a serving bowl.
8. Fry cashewnuts in hot ghee on a pan till it becomes golden brown.
9. Garnish these cashewnuts into the mixture that is kept aside.
Moong dal ghee is the right dessert to end your Diwali lunch or dinner.

# Tips
