Do you love sweets? If yes, then you should try out something which can be be made in less than 20 minutes this evening. If you are health conscious and feel that you should avoid sweets, this kind of sweet is not that type which will add to the kilos. Commonly known as Mumura laddu, rice puff balls and Murir Moa; it is loved by all ages of people in India.
Mumura laddu is one of the most tastiest sweets you can safely enjoy after dinner. Made from puffed rice and gur/jaggery, this Mumura laddu is even healthy for diabetic patients ( to eat in minimum - only).
To make this yummy Mumura laddu, you should keep one important tip in mind. While heating the jaggery on a low flame, make sure not to overcook it as by overcooking the jaggery you will not be able to bind the puffed balls later when cold.
Here is the recipe for Mumura laddu, take a look:

Serves: 3
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Puffed rice - 500gms
- Jaggery - 1 cup
- Elachi - 2
- Water - 1/2 cup
Procedure
- Take a heavy bottom vessel. Place it on a low flame and add water to the vessel when hot. As the water begins to boil add in the jaggery.
- When placed on a low flame the jaggery will begin to melt. Stir the gur for 5-10minutes continuously on the flame.
- Continue to cook the ingredients on a now medium heat until the syrup begins to concentrate. Take a small plate with water and add to it a drop of the jaggery syrup from the vessel.(if you can make a ball of it then the syrup is ready).
- Now add in the puffed rice to the vessel on the flame. Stir it with a flat spoon and add in the elachi too.
- You will see that within 2-3 minutes the puffed rice or the murmura and jaggery gets mixed up into one.
- Wait for another 5 minutes. Wet your hands with little water and make round balls using this mixture.
- Place the balls on a flat plate and allow it to get cool.
Consume only when it is cold. Your Mumura laddu is now ready to eat.
