Aloo Ka Halwa: Shivratri Vrat Recipe
Shivratri is a special festival for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This day in Hinduism marks the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees offer prayers to Lord Shiva and a lot of them even fast the whole day.
Shivratri vrat is very simple and not too strict like other vrats. Fasting during Shivratri is not a very huge task since you are allowed to eat a lot of things throughout the day. The Shivratri vrat starts early in the morning and one can eat food items like potatoes, fruits, saltless juices etc. to keep up the energy all day long.
SWEET RECIPES FOR MAHA SHIVRATRI
From Sabudana Khichdi to aloo fried chips, you can savour a variety of dishes the whole day to stay healthy. However, only one meal is allowed on Shivratri vrat. You can have sabudana khichdi, kuttu ki roti and sabji. These vrat dishes are prepared using rock salt (sinda namak) and not the normal salt. A meal or festival is incomplete without sweets and so, we will prepare a Shivratri special, aloo ka halwa. The mashed potatoes are cooked with loads of ghee and the authentic taste of nuts in this halwa can make you salivate! Check out the Shivratri vrat recipe for aloo ka halwa.
