Channa Chaat: Horse Gram Recipe
Horse gram is a type of beans that is very popular in India. Also known as lal channa, this beans is very healthy. Many dishes are prepared using horse gram (lal channa) as the main ingredient. You can either prepare a dry sabji or a gravy. You can even find few soaked lal channa in chaats.
Many people soak lal channa overnight and have in the morning with lemon juice and salt. It is believed that horse gram is very healthy for the body and boosts up body metabolism. There are many other health benefits of horse gram. For example, it cures kidney stones, lowers high blood pressure and most importantly, it is a filling and nutritious snack. Well, you can make this dish more tasty by adding some spices and vegetables. Commonly known as channa chaat, you can prepare this snack within 10 minutes. Check out the recipe.

Channa chaat, snack recipe:
Serves: 1-2
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- Lal channa- 1 cup (soaked overnight)
- Onion- 1 (finely chopped)
- Cucumber- 2tbsp (finely chopped)
- Tomato- 1 (finely chopped)
- Green chilli- 1 (finely chopped)
- Red chilli powder- a pinch
- Black salt- a pinch
- Lemon juice- 1tsp
- Chaat masala- a pinch
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Wash the lal channa with fresh water.
- In a bowl, add the onions, cucumber, tomato and green chilli. Now add the soaked lal channa. Mix well.
- Now add red chilli powder, black salt, salt, lemon juice and chaat masala. Mix well with a spoon.
Lal channa chaat is ready to eat. Serve it.
