Tandoori Paneer Tikka Recipe

Serves: 4-5
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 2 hrs 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Paneer- 250gms (cut into cubes)
  • Green capsicum- 1 (cut into cubes)
  • Red bell peppers- ½ (cut into cubes)
  • Tomato- 1 (cut into cubes), do not use the pulp
  • To marinate
  • Curd- 1 cup (thick)
  • Ginger and garlic paste- 2tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds powder- 1tsp
  • Black pepper powder- ½ tsp
  • Tandoori masala- 1tsp
  • Amchur- a pinch
  • Kasoori methi- ½ tsp (optional)
  • Lemon juice- 1tbsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Butter- 1tbsp (for greasing)

Procedure

  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients. Just make sure the curd is thick. If the curd is not thick, the marinade will be watery. You can hang curd in a cotton cloth and hang for an hour or two to remove excess water.
  • Now, divide this marinade into two bowls. In one bowl, marinade the vegetables namely capsicum, red bell peppers and tomato.
  • In another bowl, mix the paneer cubes with the masala. Marinade both the bowls for about 3 hours.
  • Meanwhile, soak the skewers in ice cold water for an hour. This prevents the skewers from getting burnt.
  • Check if the marinade is well-coated on the vegetables and paneer cubes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375F. Cover a baking dish with aluminum foil. Grease with oil or butter.
  • After marinating, insert vegetables and paneer cubes into the skewers until filled.
  • Arrange these filled skewers on the baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes.
  • Apply butter on the tikka to prevent it from burning.
  • Once done, take the skewers out.

Tandoori paneer tikka is ready to eat. Serve this vegetarian starter hot with chutney.
