20 Minute Chicken Curry Recipe
In South India chicken curries have always been a treat on Sundays in every home. Chicken is a lean meat loved by dieters as well as the elderly. The soft tender meat is juicy in nature which is why when the spices are added the taste is enhanced to something that is truly out of the world.
This simple chicken curry recipe is the best as it not time consuming. The spices added to this yummy treat are chopped green chilli and red chilli powder which will make this gravy a tad spicy. If you want to cut down on the spice, add a teaspoon of honey.
This 20 minute chicken curry gravy is simple to prepare and is the best option when your in a hurry. It goes well with peas pulav, tomato rice and white rice. You can also enjoy it with chapatis or tandoori rotis.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
You will need
- Chicken - 500 gms
- Onions - 5 (sliced)
- Tomato - 3 (chopped)
- Green Chilli - 1 (chopped)
- Potato - 2 ( peeled and diced)
- Cinnamon - 2 sticks
- Clove - 2 sticks
- Ginger & Garlic paste - 1 ½ tbsp
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1 cup
- Oil - 3 tbsp
Procedure
- Add 2 tablespoon of oil in a pressure cooker. When hot add the cloves and the cinnamon. Stir fry these ingredients over a low flame.
- Now add the chopped onions to the cooker along with the ginger and garlic paste. Fry the onions till they change into a golden brown colour.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and the green chilli. Stir and allow it to cook over a medium flame.
- Now add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste. Fry the masala well for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces to the cooker and one glass of water. Mix the contents well.
- Cover the pressure cooker with the lid and cook the chicken for 15 minutes ( 5 - 6 whistles)
- When the chicken is boiled, add the chopped potatoes and a little water. Cover the cooker with a tava lid and allow it to cook on a low flame.

Chicken is high in protein. It is a suitable lean meat for those who are on a diet.
Tip
Don't add too much of water in the pressure cooker after adding the chicken.
