Kerala sarees are famous across the world. The famous Kerala kasavu saree is the one which every woman will like to have in her wardrobe.
Saree Style – Ever since actress Sonam Kapoor flaunted a Kerala saree with a side bun in “Ayesha" (the climax), everyone's into posing the same way in their weddings. The white saree popularly called the Kasavu saree is a traditional cotton or a silk saree with the gold border.
Apart from the five yard kasavu saree, the women also wear mundu veshti (another kerala saree) which is a white cotton dhoti with one set wound like around, like a long skirt and the other set like a half saree.
The malayali style of wearing the saree is by wearing the upper mundu set with the blouse (on the left shoulder) very similar to the normal drapping of the saree.
Blouse Patterns - The blouse can be a silk blouse or cotton, sequined with white and gold stones. Women stitch the blouses in different styles (sleeved or sleeveless) with various designs.
Hairstyle - The Keralites generally leave the hair loose with a few strands of hair pinned or clipped on top. They decorate their hairstyles with Jasmine flowers. Some even put Kondai (bun) on the side or centre.
Jewellery – One of the biggest festive fashion during onam is the women dazzling with traditional kerala style jewels. The gold jewels are beautifully carved, are light and shine bright yellow.
