Skin Care In PCOD: 7 Tips Not To Miss
PCOD or polycystic ovary syndrome is an imbalance of hormones in women and causes an elevated level of androgens in the bloodstream, that is, the male hormone. Its main symptoms are missed or irregular periods, acne, excessive facial hair, rashes and darkening of the skin. There is enough information on the symptoms of the disorder, but not enough tips for skincare for people who have PCOD.
The elevated levels of androgen naturally lead to formation of little cysts on the ovaries. The cysts are not harmful, but cause hormonal imbalances. In normal accounts, female bodies producing a tiny amount of male hormones is expected. But when the production of male hormones escalates, the imbalance happens and it is called PCOD.
Taking care of skin in PCOD can be tricky, because no matter what you do, the skin problems don't seem to go away. Today, we'll try to make your life easier by giving you some tips for skincare when you have PCOD. This skincare routine for PCOD is easy to follow and would definitely make you feel a little bit better about yourself.

Acne
The increased levels of androgen obviously lead to more breakouts in the skin. So, what do you do about that? At this time, a medicated face wash containing salycylic acid or glycolic acid is your best bet. These ingredients help reduce sebum production in the skin, and lead to less breakouts. It is an absolute must in a skincare routine for PCOD. Following this would make taking care of skin in PCOD much easier.

Facial hair
Along with acne, the escalation in male hormones also causes excessive hair growth on the face. That can actually be worse than having to deal with acne. Getting a laser hair removal done is the best idea, even though it is costly. As with PCOD, facial hair tends to grow back rougher and faster than in usual cases. The other hair removal methods may need to be done more often than usual. Keep a tweezer around at all times.

3. Oily skin-
Skin tends to become a lot oilier for people with PCOD. Here are a few ways to take care of oily skin that comes with PCOD. Oil blotting paper can really help with this situation. Also try to invest in a mattifying product, like one that contains tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties that really help reduce the risk of pores getting clogged up, as oilier skin leads to large and open pores.

4. Dark patches-
The dark patches are caused by a higher level of insulin in the blood. This leads to darkening of skin folds and areas like in between the thighs, back of the neck, under the breasts and more. The only way to deal with this is to lower the level of insulin intake. Some whitening products may work, but it is advised that you speak to your dermatologist before taking a step like that, when dealing with skincare when having PCOD.

Rough Skin
The excessive amount of male hormones can make the skin thick and rough. For this, it is really important to remember to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. You may need more scrubbing than other people do. But in order to avoid whiteheads and blackheads from forming, regular scrubbing is a must. People with PCOD are even more prone to blackhead and whitehead problems.

6. Dark underarms-
Dark underarms can be dealt with by making a mix of baking soda and lemon. Baking soda gets rid of bacteria and lemon juice works as a really good, gentle and natural bleaching agent. This won't work like magic, but would definitely help to an extent.

7. Hair loss-
For this, follow another skincare tip useful in PCOD.The hormonal imbalance from PCOD causes hair follicles to get blocked. Lifestyle changes are the only things that can help with this. Use lesser products containing sulfates and wash your hair less often. Also, when washing your hair, try to use products containing organic ingredients.
