Holi 2024: 7 Homemade Scrubs To Bid Farewell To Color Damage And Protect Your Skin
Enjoying the festival of colours with colourful powder hues brings joy for sure, but the aftermath of colour play can leave your skin feeling dry, irritated, and even stained. But, fret not! With a few simple yet effective homemade remedies, you can rejuvenate your skin and bid farewell to any colour-related damage.
Here are 7 natural remedies that will restore your skin's glow and suppleness post-holi.

Lemon and Honey Cleanser
Lemon's citric acid helps remove stubborn color stains while honey moisturizes and soothes the skin. Mix equal parts lemon juice and honey to form a paste. Gently massage the paste onto the areas exposed to colours and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
Milk and Turmeric Mask
Milk contains lactic acid, which is especially beneficial for exfoliating dead skin cells and fading colour stains off your body. Whereas turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that protect your skin from damage caused by chemical-filled colours.
Mix two tablespoons of milk with a pinch of turmeric to form a smooth paste. Apply the mixture evenly on your face and other exposed areas and allow it to dry for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with water.
Yoghurt and Gram Flour Scrub
Yoghurt moisturizes and cools the skin, while gram flour acts as a gentle exfoliant to remove colour residue. Mix yoghurt and gram flour to form a thick paste. Gently scrub the paste onto damp skin in circular motions, focusing on areas where colour is concentrated, then rinse off with water.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera is preferred for its soothing and healing properties which makes it ideal for calming irritated skin post-Holi. Apply fresh aloe vera gel directly onto the affected areas and leave it on overnight to get the best results.
Coconut Oil Massage
Coconut oil effectively breaks down colour pigments and hydrates the skin, leaving it soft and supple. Massage coconut oil onto damp skin using circular motions, focusing on areas with colour stains. Leave the oil on for 30 minutes to an hour before washing it off with a gentle cleanser.

Cucumber and Rose Water Toner
Cucumber hydrates the skin, while rose water helps restore the pH balance and soothes irritation caused by holi colours. Blend cucumber to extract its juice and mix it with equal parts rose water. Apply the toner using a cotton pad all over your face and affected areas to reduce redness and inflammation.
Oatmeal and Honey Exfoliating Scrub
Oatmeal exfoliates the skin, and removes dead cells and colour stains, while honey moisturizes and soothes. Mix oatmeal and honey to form a thick paste. Massage the scrub onto damp skin in gentle circular motions, then rinse off with lukewarm water for soft, glowing skin.
After a day of vibrant celebrations, taking care of your skin is essential to prevent any lingering effects of colour play. These homemade remedies offer natural and effective solutions to remove colour stains and restore your skin's health post-Holi. Incorporate these remedies into your skincare routine to ensure that your skin remains radiant and refreshed throughout the festive season!
