Paryankasana

The term Paryanka would mean a bed, sofa or a couch. In this asana, the body appears like a couch and hence the name 'Paryankasana'. This asana is the continuation of Supta paryankasana.

Procedure:

1.Sit in paryankasana

2.Breathe out and lie on the back.

3.Lift the neck and the chest and by arching the back, place only the crown of the head on the floor. No other part of the trunk should be on the floor.

4.Bend the arms at the elbow and hold the right upper arm near the elbow with the left hand and the left upper arm near the elbow with the right hand. Rest the folded hands behind the head on the floor.

5.Stay in the pose for a minute breathing evenly.

 

Tolasana

Tolasana would mean a pair of scales. Since this asana resembles a one of the pans of the scale, it is called Tolasana.

1.Sit in Padmasana

2.Place the palms on the floor near the hips.

3.Breathe out and lift the trunk from the floor balancing on the straightened hands with palms on the floor.

4.Lower the trunk back to the floor and uncross the legs.

Prasarita Padottasana

The term 'Prasarita' would mean stretched, expanded or extended. The word 'Pada' would mean foot. The pose is of expanding the legs and stretching them intensely. Hence the name 'Prasarita Padottasana'.

Technique I

1.Stand in Tadasana

2.Breathe in and place the hands on the waist and the spread the legs about 4 ' to 5 feet.

3.Draw up the knee caps and tighten the legs.
