Make Your Home Safe For Toddler

Once your toddler starts walking, your home becomes a very intriguing place for him or her. There are so many different places to explore and so many interesting gadgets to play with. However, your home is also filled with dangerous things for the little walking baby. You need to make your home safe for your toddler.

As adults we often don't realise what hidden dangers lurk in our house for the child once it can move around. But toddler's safety at home should be your first priority. Most toddler accidents happen at home and thus, you must make your home a safe place for the little one.

Toddler Safety

Here are some steps to make your home safe for a walking toddler.

Sharp Objects

Collect all the sharp objects like scissors, knives, nail cutters etc and place them in one box. This box should be locked at all times and kept out of reach to ensure your toddler's safety.

Easy Breakables

We often decorate our homes with glass artefacts and crystal show pieces. These things are easily breakable. Once your baby starts moving around, they have easy access to these dangerous things. It is best if you stow all your dainty show pieces into the wardrobes to avoid home accidents.

Things To Swallow

Small things that can be swallowed by your toddler must be searched and removed from your house. Broken pieces of plastic, thermocol balls or even safety pins, must be collected and kept separately to make your home safe for your toddler.

Electrical Points

It is better for you to have all the electrical points and sockets in the house at higher levels on the walls. If there are any electrical points at ground level, seal them and have them discharged. This is to ensure your toddler's safety from electrical shocks.

Kitchen Safety

Keep all the kitchen gadgets like microwave, blender, juicer, toaster etc out of your toddler's reach. The gas oven must be at a high place and the gas cylinder must not be easily accessible to the child. Kitchen accidents among toddlers are very common and can be very dangerous.

These are some simple ways to make your home safe for a walking toddler. What changes did you bring in the house when your toddler started walking?
