Moving into a new home is a big decision. It involves considerable amount of expenses and lots of effort. So, you need to be absolutely sure that you are making the right decision about shifting your home. This is more required especially if you are moving into a rented house. There are many choices available when it comes to rented houses but you need to pick the best house for yourself.

To help you decide and ease off transit hiccups before moving into a new home, you need some guidelines. These are some of the things you need to check before shifting into a home.

Moving In

1. Plug Points

Always check if all the plug points of your new home are working properly. If they are not, then get them fixed. Or else you will be stuck with a television set that does not work because there are no functional plugs!

2. Fans

Before moving into a new home, you need to see if all the ceiling fans and air conditioners are working. Also see if the regulators of these appliances are working.

3. Bulbs Or Tube-lights

You need to ensure that all the lights in your house work. Don't move into a rented house where you have install all the tube-lights or bulbs; it is an added cost.

4. Leaking Taps

Check for leaks in the pipes and taps. Leaking taps lead to wastage of water. Water is a very precious resource so save it.

5. Water Supply

If you are in India, you also need to check if there is 24 hours water supply in a particular house or area.

6. Damp Spots

Some houses have a bad case of water seepage and develop damp spots. These spots may be hidden by fresh paint so watch out for them if you don't want water to be dripping on your head.

7. Will Your Stuff Fit?

You also need to make sure that all your furniture will fit into this new home. If your stuff doesn't fit into the house, then moving will be a waste of time.

8. Curtain Rods

Make sure all the windows in the house have rods in which you can put curtains. Otherwise you will have a privacy issue after moving into your new home.

9. Balcony/Window View

Sometimes a balcony or window may open to an unappetizing view. You don't really want to see a garbage bin or a slum when you walk in your balcony. So make sure your house has a view that suits you.

10. Ventilation

Cross ventilation is important from the point of view of hygiene. So make sure your house has two windows or a door and a window facing each other. Air circulation and light keeps the environment at home germ-free.
