Lessons On The Horrors Of Menopause
Menopause marks the end of a woman's menstrual cycle. Women bid farewell to the hormones that regulate their reproductive life. It results in a lot of changes in a woman's body. The changes are not pleasant ones and the changes and their intensity differ from one woman to another.
Some women find it difficult to deal with the issues associated with menopause and are horrified with the symptoms and changes that their bodies go through.
Symptoms include mood swings, frustration, improved competitive behaviour, sudden onset of crying spells and unexplainable anger. These are a result of fluctuating hormone levels.

There may be concentration problems, sleep issues, nervousness and depression. You may also experience cravings for food and a heightened hunger.
There might be body pains and aches including back, joint, and muscle pains. Body pain sometimes stops women from carrying out their day to day activities.
Due to the lower levels of oestrogen, weight gain becomes an issue after menopause, mostly because your body uses fewer calories than it did before. Your hormonal levels may be changing causing any number of indicators including fat increase due to either water retention or overeating.

Women experience hot flashes, which cause a brief increase in body temperature. Menopause can cause sleep problems. This sometimes leads to mental breakdown of the individual.
During the onset of menopause, women bleed heavily. The vagina becomes very dry leading to painful sex. Due to the drop in oestrogen levels, the skin becomes very dry leading to itchiness. Wrinkles also form on the skin and it also sags.

Hormone therapy may be used to get relief from the symptoms of menopause. However, there are some serious and potentially fatal side effects of hormone replacement therapy which include breast and uterine cancers.
Hormone therapy may be delivered in three different ways. Oestrogen alone, progesterone alone, or a mixture of both oestrogen and progesterone tailored to an individual's specific needs. The favoured protocol is treatment with a mixture of both oestrogen and progesterone.
Other treatments include anti-inflammatories, anti-depressants and diuretic tablets that help to alleviate excess body fluid.

Many ladies look for natural treatments like herbal supplementation. Many products even contain beneficial minerals and vitamins to help balance out nutritional needs.
Herbal supplements might include B complex minerals and vitamins like zinc or magnesium. While it is true that herbal medicines do not have many adverse effects, it is necessary to consult your health care provider before taking them.
