Interlocking Technology Better Than Plaster In Bone Fractures

Saharsa : Instead of the conventional method of treatment by plastering bones in case of fracture, the interlocking of bones technology heals faster and is cost-effective, noted Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr R N Singh informed.
Addressing the 16th state-level seminar of orthopaedic surgeons, Dr Singh stressed the need for adopting new technologies in treatment of bone diseases, especially fracture.
He said in case of fracture in the limb bones, the doctors should adopt interlocking system for treatment of the patient as it is more effective than the conventional system of plastering.
He said through interlocking system the patient recovers within a week whereas in case of plastering the recovery time is nearly three months and sometimes even more.
Dr Singh said apart from being expensive the plasters exert extra pressure on the bones making them fragile and weak.
He also stressed the need to enhance intake of calcium and nutritional diet by the old and elderly persons, women and children as they suffer most from calcium deficiency following which their bones become weak.
Nearly 300 Orthopaedic surgeons of the country attended the seminar which was inaugurated by District Magistrate R Lakshmanan.
