A love bite can be a tattoo of love but its visibility can make you feel uncomfortable in public. Also known as Hickey, a love bite is a bruise which appears on the skin. Sucking the skin for sometime clots the blood and a red discolouration develops. A love bite looks red and in few hours it can turn to purple or blue colour. With time the bite turns to yellow colour. Love bites take time to heal but with makeup you can hide them temporarily. Take a look at the makeup tips to hide love bites.

Makeup tips to hide love bites or hickey:

1. Wash the skin with a face wash or soap before starting the makeup. If the love bite is on the neck then wash the neck and dry it.

2. Take few drops of toner in a cotton ball and rub on the love bite. A toner helps makeup last longer. By applying toner, you also prevent the makeup from smudging.

3. A concealer is an effective makeup tip to hide love bites. Concealers can hide any dark spot or mark on the skin. So you can easily cover the love bite with a concealer.

4. If your love bite is red then apply green colour concealer. For purple/blue coloured love bite, choose a yellow or orange concealer. You can even blend the two colours (yellow and orange) and apply to temporarily hide the love bite with makeup.

5. While fading, the love bite turns to yellow or light green colour. At this time you can use lavender concealer to hide it.

6. Take a drop of the concealer colour on the fingertip. Spread on the skin and cover the love bite.

7. Now use a foundation to cover the love bite with makeup. Choose a foundation which is lighter than the skin colour to get the natural makeup look!

8. Use your fingertip to apply foundation. Applying only on the love bite will highlight it more so spread it on the skin around the hickey.

9. Let the concealer and foundation blend on the skin to get the natural makeup look. Follow up with a powder or compact for the finishing touch.

10. Another way to hide a love bite or hickey is through your hair. If the love bite is on the neck then prefer open hair and put few strands in the front to cover the love bite.
